breaking news --- breaking news --- breaking news :)
My employer Univa just published this really amazing press release:
Univa Joins Industry Leaders to Form New Cloud Native Computing Foundation
Membership in the new foundation as well as in the Google Cloud Platform Partner Program are the latest pillars of Univa's continued expansion into containerization and microservices
Chicago, IL – July 21, 2015 – Univa, a leading innovator in workload management and optimization solutions, today announced that the company's expansion into containerization and microservices continues as it becomes a founding member of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF). Univa also has formally joined the Google Cloud Platform Partner Program as an Authorized Technology Partner with its recent integration between the Univa solutions suite and Google Cloud Platform.
The new CNCF organization will accelerate the development of cloud native applications and services by advancing a technology stack for containerization and microservices. Univa brings deep experience in enterprise workload optimization and resource management across a wide range of industries to the CNCF community. The company joins a stellar line-up of founding members including, among others, Cisco, Google, IBM, Intel, Mesosphere, VMware and Weaveworks.
"Univa is excited to participate as a founding member of the CNCF," said Gary Tyreman, CEO of Univa Corporation. "Enterprises want to capture the power and benefits of containerization and we're proud to be among the industry pioneers who are stepping up to the challenge. We look forward to sharing our expertise in optimizing diverse data center workloads gained from our experience with hundreds of different enterprise environments."
Univa has already proposed a series of enhancements and additions to Kubernetes and looks forward to collaborating with Google and other contributors in the CNCF community -- particularly around the theme of enterprise-readiness for containers at scale and in production.
Univa's current customers already are benefiting from these initiatives including Univa customer Center for Genomic Regulation (CRG), who recently extended their Univa managed resources with Docker containers to execute scientific analysis on distributed systems.
Paolo Di Tommaso, software engineer at CRG said, "The results we achieved were terrific. By blending our current applications and these new containerized workloads with Univa's solution, we experienced easier replication, faster deployment and lower configuration and operating costs."
Univa's suite includes the world's most trusted workload optimization solution enabling organizations to manage and optimize distributed applications, containers, data center services, legacy applications, and Big Data frameworks in a single, dynamically shared set of resources. It is the most widely deployed workload optimization solution used today in more than 10,000 data centers across thousands of applications and use cases.
